Description:

The Code Enforcement Officer is in place to enforce the New York State building and fire code within the Village of Poland. He also ensures that all local zoning and planning laws are followed, issues building permits, makes periodic and final inspections, and will issue a certificate of compliance or a certificate of occupancy when work is completed to code. 

 

Effective June 1, 2008 the Village Codes Enforcer position will be eliminated and it will be the responsibility of the mayor "to provide for the enforcement of all laws, local laws, rules and regulations and to cause all violations thereof to be prosecuted".  This is pursuant to Village Law Section 4-400(1)(b).

Amanda's Law Carbon monoxide alarm requirements to go into effect February 22, 2010
As the result of legislation, Amanda's Law will go into effect on February 22, 2010.
It requires essentially all residences, both new and existing, to have carbon
monoxide alarms installed.  The specific requirements differ for new and existing
residences and also on when the buildings were built and subcategories of occupancy
groups.
